Listen up. I’m calling BS on 95% of the excuses you’ve been making for not pursuing your dreams and starting your business.
- You don’t have the time.
- You don’t have the money.
- You’re not consistent enough.
- You don’t know enough.
- It’s not the right time.
Myth: It takes money to make money. And girl, I’m too broke to start a business.
Truth: Yes, some money is needed but not as much as you think to get started.
I want you to take a look at your debit card statement. What did you spend your money on last month? Bills, gas, insurance, food, new shoes, makeup, random trips to Target.
I can almost guarantee you have disposable income that you’re spending on things that you don’t really need. Ask yourself, what’s more important. Spending $30 on a fancy dinner 3 times a week or investing that cash into building a business? Dropping $50 bucks at Target on new pillows and conditioner or registering your business and getting an LLC? Spending $5 every morning at Starbucks or having $140 dollars to invest in creating your legacy?
Myth: I work a 9 to 5. I don’t have time to start a business.
Truth: Time management isn’t your problem. It’s your lack of action with the time that you have.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Your 9 to 5 takes up 8 hours of your day. You’ll sleep for 8 hours a day (on a good night). What are you doing with the other 8 hours? Stop checking Facebook for the 15th time in the last hour. Stop scrolling through Instagram aimlessly. Stop worrying about how many people liked your last post. Stop binge watching Netflix. Quit with your self-doubt. Fuck whatever happened yesterday. Fuck starting tomorrow. You may be afraid to move forward, but you should be terrified you’ll stay exactly where you are.
Release the false perception that you are chained to your job. Be open to the reality that you CAN have more freedom to make the choices you want. Doing the safe thing isn’t always the smartest thing.
Myth: I’m not consistent. I’ve tried everything and I just can’t make this work.
Truth: You’ve been hustling full speed in the wrong direction. You’re struggling because you don’t have the right processes and systems in place.
The reason you aren’t consistent is because you need to:
- Clarify what it is that you’re trying to accomplish. What’s your end goal… specifically.
- Identify your next steps. You have
soooooooomany ideas and taps open but you have no next steps. You’ve identified results. You’ve even identified goals. But what’s the next action you need to take the next time you have time to work on your business? You can’t move forward without taking a step.
- Verify the system that you put in place to ensure you take the necessary actions to build a profitable business. You need a trusted system to turn your ideas into real coins and stay on track.
The grass is greener where you water it. Employee or entrepreneur, you can and should build a life you love.
